Dynamic Axle Weighing Scale

Camaweigh Dynamic Axle Weighing Scale

In the weighing industry there are many types of weighing instrument being used, from the smallest up to the largest. Depending on what object is going to be weighed, there is weighing equipment which is designed to handle that specific weight capacity. When it comes to very large loads like trucks, trailer truck, or any type of vehicle, special weighing equipment is required. For vehicle weighing there are four types weighing equipment offered by Camaweigh; dynamic axle weighing scales, wireless portable weighing pads, movable truck scales/portable weighbridges, and weighbridges.

Types of Dynamic Axe Weighing Scales

One of the constantly used vehicle weighing equipment in the industry is the dynamic axle weighing scales. By its name, dynamic axle weighing scales are used to separately measure the weight of each wheel and axle of a truck or vehicle. Camaweigh offers 3 different types of dynamic axle weighing scales; Single Axle, Double Axle, and Triple Axle weighing scales. All of these kinds are designed to get the total weight at each axle of the vehicle but thru different means. There are generally two categories of axle weighing scales; dynamic and static axle weighing scales. Static axle weighing scales can measure the weight of an axle while it is at a stationary position. Static axle weighing scales are often used at major roads and skyways where in each truck is weighed before they can be allowed to advanced. This is because each roadway has its own vehicle weight limit. If a truck were to go along a road intended only for small vehicles, the road has the tendency to break. Dynamic weighing scales are more ideal because they can measure the weight of the vehicle while it passes thru the scales. Because of this, dynamic weighing scales tend to save time and are more efficient than static weighing scales.

How Dynamic Axle Weighing Scales Work

The three types of dynamic axle weighing scales all have the same principles but can weigh depending on the number of axles. Single axle weighing scales are used to weigh each axle of the truck or vehicle individually. If the vehicle or truck has three wheel axles, they will be read individually as they pass through the single axle weighing scales. The scale indicator will indicate three separate axle weights. If the vehicle contains more than three wheel axes, then the indicator will indicate more axle weighs. The other type of axle weighing scale is the dual axle weighing scale which has the capacity to weigh two wheel axles at a time. Some truck layouts have two or three wheel axles which are grouped together. In the weighing industry, trailer trucks are mostly used and they are divided into three main parts, the steer axle, drive axle, and trailer axle. The steer axle is the axle controlled by the steering wheeling which is responsible for turning the truck. The drive axle is the one which is responsible for pushing and moving the truck and its load forward. The trailer axle turns the support wheels of the trailer. Depending on the length of the trailer, it can have more than one trailer axle. Similarly, a trailer axle can also have more than two wheels or there can be more than two axles per axle group.  When the two wheel axle pass through the weighing scale, they will only be read as a single axle reading instead of two individual readings. The other type, the three axle weighing scale, has exactly the same idea. The three axle weighing scale has the capacity to weighing three grouped wheel axles at the same time.  They will all be read as one wheel axle weight.

Camaweigh’s dynamic axle weighing scales are made of high quality mild steel material which is very durable to handle very large loads. Camaweigh’s single axle weighing scale has a weighing capacity of up to 30 tons while the three axle variant can weigh up to 40 tons.
