What is a Pallet jack called?

A pallet jack, also known as a pallet truck, pump truck, or jigger, is the most basic form of the forklift. It is used to lift and move pallets in warehouses and trailers.

How do pallet scales work?

A pallet scale is a pallet truck with an integrated weighing scale. The manually operated machine allows users to move and weigh heavy loads at the same time.

The weighing scale of pallet scales is not as accurate as large trade-approved scales but is good enough to speed up the process within a warehouse.

What are Pallet jacks used for?

There are two main uses of pallet truck scales.

  • Weighing palletized goods before they are loaded onto vehicles.
  • Mobile weighing and moving pallets in a warehouse, depot, or factory.

What are the different types of Pallet jacks?

The most common types of pallet jack are:

  • Manual Pallets Jack: The most common pallet jack. It requires manual pump input to raise the pallet.
  • Electric Walk-Behind: It’s a battery-powered version of the manual pallet jack. The battery provides electrical assistance in both moving and lifting the pallet.
  • Rider Pallet Jack: It’s a pallet jack designed like a forklift. The handler has a platform to step on and ride along the machine. It is ideal for large warehouses and heavy loads.

How accurate are Pallet scales?

Pallet scales have near-perfect accuracy with a tolerance value of 0.1 of the weighted value. However, they’re generally not on the trade-approved standards as they are used for speeding up the moving process within a warehouse.

How much do Pallet jacks cost?

There are two types of pallet jacks available at Camaweigh. Their prices may vary with market conditions.

How to calibrate a pallet truck scale?

Here’s the general guide on how to calibrate a pallet truck scale by Camaweigh:

  1. Place the pallet truck scale on a flat surface with plenty of room.
  2. Switch on the scale indicator and let it automatically configure to the standard reading of ‘0’.
  3. Put the platform surface onto the beams.
  4. Configure the scale value to 0.
  5. Place calibration weights in the order of heaviest to lightest onto the platform surface. Also, ensure the correspondence of the calibration weights and weight tolerance on the scale indicator as you place them on the platform.
  6. After weighing one calibration weight and ensuring its mass correspondence with the scale indicator, remove it from the platform and repeat the process with the next calibration weight.
  7. Repeat 3-5 times to ensure accuracy.

How high can a Pallet jack lift?

1 to 2 feet.

How to use the Pallet jack scale?

The user puts the forks under the pallet and exerts pressure on the handle to lift the pallet. The scale will weigh the pallet and display the value on the indicator.
